Find out what happens to your rubbish
Have you ever wondered what happens to the items your put in your bin? Or why almost a third of the food grown is thrown away? Or how your paper is turned in to new products? We’ll happily come along to a community meeting or event and talk about happens after you put your waste and recycling out for collection. As well as showing you what happens next we’ll take you through some of the ways everyone can help themselves save money, time and the environment by preventing items being wasted.
Love Food Hate Waste
There are lots of quick, easy and free things everyone can do to help get the most from the food they buy and reduce the amount spent on the food shop each month. We will come out to groups or events to give interactive talks, run information sessions, have a stand at a community event and train up food champions. With 1 out of 5 bags of shopping thrown away we use games and other resources to give relevant and useful hints, tips and ideas which could save a family up to £60 a month on their shopping bill.
Reduce and Reuse Sessions
We have games and activities for children and adults showing how you can reduce, re-use and recycle. These are great for scouts, brownies and schools or for an unusual community meeting.
Electrical items recycling events
De-clutter and recycle your electrical items at a bring event. If you can offer a location for local residents to bring their unwanted electrical items we can arrange collection and recycling for free. We have a handy guide and staff to help you plan your event.
GetSwishing
Whatever the season, explore your wardrobe and use clothes, accessories and shoes you no longer wear as currency to get items you really want in your wardrobe. At a Swish the items you don’t wear anymore are swapped with other people and you get the opportunity to take home something you will love!
You could host a Swishing event. Swishes are a great social activity for your community to get involved in, when you host a Swish you’re encouraging local residents to socialise with each other and it’s a great way for you to get people involved with the community too. It could also help you raise money for a good cause by charging an entrance fee or by selling food and drink at the event. To find out more about running your own swish visit our website www.getswishing.com. We’ve run events with over 30 different organisations.
Be quick to book your swishing event with us as our time is allocated on a first come first served basis!
Give and Take events
Every home has a cupboard with items that are never used and there are other people who may be able to use the items you don’t want. You may even find something you want at one of these events. We can help you run one for the benefit of your group and community.
