Electricals
Our office is littered with electrical items and we realised that everyone who works here has over 30 things at home too. As you’re reading this you have access to at least one item too! Let’s be clear though – an electrical item is anything with a plug, a battery or a charger.
As rubbish goes, electrical items are the fastest growing waste stream in the UK with over 1 million tonnes of it thrown away each year.
But it doesn’t have to be that way, our electrical section contains a few helpful hints to save you money and to keep your electrical items out the bin.
Harrow WEEE collection pilot
To help you declutter your home from small unwanted electrical waste, we have partnered with Harrow Council to launch a special WEEE home collection pilot scheme.
The pilot will be introduced to 11,000 households across 4 wards in Harrow for a one-off collection between June to November 2018.
Repair
Still a great option for some items and there are even places that can do it for you.
Don’t buy new
Some many products, so little time – dip in and out with gadgets and appliances when you buy them second-hand saving yourself loads of money in the process.
Community Events
Host a waste electricals and electronic equipment (WEEE for short and for laughs) bring event to make sure they get recycled.
Recycle
All electrical items can be recycled, find out where is close to you.
